NEW YORK -- 9/7/2003 --

Andy Roddick is the 2003 US Open Champion! Andy put on an incredible display of tennis, on his way to a straight sets victory over Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-3, 7-6(2), 6-3! The young American broke down in tears upon holding his serve to love to secure victory and the championship!

Andy was out of the starting blocks early, and never looked back. His serve was sensational and he outplayed Ferrero from the back of the court. Andy also mixed up his play with some superb serve and volley tactics!

Andy celebrated with family and friends in the stands, and in his winners acceptance speech thanked everybody and hugged his trophy!

Well done Andy - US Open Champion!
