*[[if u can dream it, u can do it]]*

Another important chapter of my life has been written.
It is the story of my first job from 8th Jan to 27 July 2007 (7 mths) at Toshin.

i recall that my very first impression of the place was that even though there are 20 over staff there, the whole place feels super empty.
why? cause of the long walkway leading to the office inside...

and because the first day i reached at 8.59, i didnt see anyone turn up for work. so basically i sat there for a few hrs staring at my desk and the switchboard while a few pple would pass by to go to the washroom. why a few, cause my office got 3 exits.

oh yes, i also spent my first few hrs reading my so called guide cause it contains infor on how about to doing my job well.

before that i learnt all the basic stuff like unlocking the door and phone, use the phone and various extentions and who's in the office and who's the boss etc etc.

So for 7 mths... my typical day starts by keying in the password to enter..

then signing into the attendence record book..
i was only late for work twice only in 7 mths.

first time was my 2nd day of work cause i wasnt used to the bus timings..
and the second one was last tues cause the bus was too full and i didnt run fast enough so i reached at 9.01.
both times it was a tuesday.
actually there was one more but no one found out so didnt get highlighted. why, cause catherine was on leave that day so i hack care haha. oops. it was also a tuesday.
shows that tuesday i am in danger of being late even thou i am early.
then at 9am i will unlock the phone and start picking up calls cause i am the receptionist. the thing is, there are not much calls. sometimes, my first call can be at 11 or 12 plus. so my peaceful mornings are spent reading wo pao i get from orchard mrt and doing the sudoku puzzle inside.
at ard 10am i will make myself a cup of green tea. following which i will read and day dream. sometimes in between i have to record and frank mails and arrange for couriers and collect mails that kind of recept stuff.
11.30am will be gg to post office plus taking my own sweet time in the toilet. (which isnt very long anyway)
12 to 1pm everyone would be out for lunch so i will chat on the phone till my lunch. oh ya...i chat only to weiqi during that time cause either shes on her way to work or at home doing nothing.
1-2pm would be my lunch at lucky plaza and shopping at the supermarket at Marketplace in Paragon. for the first 6 mths ard 10 mins of my lunch will be spent in the library borrowing books and comics.
2-3.30pm would be spent reading the newspapers...
after that will be reading and doing some recept stuff if needed.
then 5.30 will be the post office and washroom routine again.
6pm will be home sweet home.
as you can see, i really have a lot of free time reading and day dreaming at work. my job is really almost zero stress, thats y i can stay on for so long. plus i get to read all i want. if i spend the time at home instead of at work, i would still be reading. so its like getting paid for doing something i like!
plus for the last few mths, after i am really used to my colleagues there, i get to spice up my life by disturbing and making fun of them!

so after 7mths...i am really an expert in my job alr. all the ext of my colleagues are in my head, so is the courier tel no.

the DHL guy, and other courier guys also know me quite well...so is the mineral water delivery guy that comes every tues etc etc..

so on fri, my feelings are very different from what i had when i first came. i remembered a few mths, at some point in time, i actually wanted to quit.

on fri.. really super emo the whole day. gg to cry a few times but luckily at the "crucial" moment a phone call saved me from crying...

some of my colleagues were very nice...they bought some farewell gifts for me =)

this doraemon is from catherine and karen. its now on sleeping beside me everynight.

also they gave me mouse pad set and waterbottle...all doraemon...

now really i have a mini collection of doraemon items alr.

the other stuff are from other colleagues..shall post some here. got necklace and toys too.

oh ya...i also made them thank you cards...

took a few nights to complete them...

so overall, i really enjoyed my job there. its an experience that i will always treasure cause its unique to me. really learnt a lot of things there which cannot be learnt from textbooks. also forged friendships with some of my colleagues. if i worked there for only 3 mths i will not have gained all these. to know pple in their 30s well...its very hard cause theres generation gap. so if i have the chance...i will go back there during my hols cause they sure take me...karen also wans me to go back there after 4 yrs haha. cause real estate is sorta relevant to toshin. its because i work there i learn to appreciate what real estate is...its really very interesting. and i realised thats is what i always wanted to do since young, its my ambition, i jus didnt know its called real estate and what it really looks like.
anyway...i have since quit my job cause its time to study. i also learnt that studying is very important in life from my experience these 7 mths. shall look forward to company outing next mth cause i am invited!! hehe.
