Happy National Day!
For the first time as a student, i didnt get a chance to celebrate national day in school. thats y i cant really feel the atmosphere of this public holiday.
In primary school, every yr, we will have to wear a red top and white bottom to school. I rmb my red top would always be too big for me and therefore i will wear the same top every yr. if i am not wrong, the red shirt was bought from my school bookshop cause its pure red without any prints on it. in the past there wasnt any "national day" shirts u can get from hang ten i think. for my white bottom, it changes every yr cause i outgrew them. and in lower pri, i loved national day cause we get to sing a lot of songs. haha. in upper pri, i jus went to sch excitedly because there will be national day gifts given by the sch.
In sec school, no more red top and white bottoms i think. i jus dread standing and waiting for the parade by the npcc to be over. every year we must sing the same national day song which doesnt sound very nice to me. concerts in sec sch were always boring.
in upper sec, national day celebrations is much more meaningful cause we have the annual cca handing over ceremony that day! and its meaningful cause i was involved in it, of course. in sec 3, i was elected as president of my cca for the next yr. that moment is something that i will never ever forget. its also one of my proudest moment of my sec sch life. becos of my cca, i get to go on leadership camps to kota tinggi and nacli (@ bouna vista where they train students to be leaders). i really learnt a lot in my sec sch days about teamwork and leadership. the fun i had, i dun think i will ever get the chance to experience it again. in sec 4, i get to go on stage again cause i need to step down as president. there was a feeling of "mission accomplished".
in jc, national day is also our school's annual charity drive. in j1 we are forced to dance and in j2 we have to walk all the way from sch to Macritchie Reservoir. i think i enjoyed the walk more cause i had a lot of fun with my friends talking and singing (which i didnt cause i cant sing). Parteh Animals do u guys rmb???? and i also rmb pistol wanted to sing the Kaira gong song but she dunno how to sing. and we were arguing how the song with collyer quay and raffles place sound like which someone(cant rmb who) never heard before. haha i really miss the fun i had in sch.
every national day, i will rmb abt Tanya Chua's Where I belong. even thou the song is nice, i still hate it. why? cause in sec 1 we have music lessons. for our test, we have to sing that song and be graded. and the choir teacher said i sing like i am reading a book!! i cant help it if i cant sing right? stupid teacher.
