My sec 1 art teacher is in the front page of the straits times today!!

ENJOYING LIFE? YES, I'M DOING JUST THAT
'I ask them what they mean when they say I don't enjoy life. In school, I get to draw, my pupils are happy and I get paid.' MR LIM BUCK SEAH (above), 76, on how he responds to his family members who ask why he does not want to enjoy life in retirement.

See the tiger on the board? he drew a dragon bigger than this tiger on my class whiteboard the first day he taught us. and the class refused to erase it away for days till the math teacher forced us to get rid of it as she has no place to write.
those human portraits on the board in the picture..i rmb seeing them too.
i recall that one day when we went for our art lesson, he jus sat in front of the class and told us to draw him. there was another incident whereby he told all of us to take off one side of our shoes and put it in front of us on the table, and draw them. i think everyone was quite shocked when he said that cause it sounded very ridiculous at that time. that shoe drawing became one of my fav art piece because mine was one of those selected to be placed on exhibition for some event in the school. it is also the only art piece i kept till today..i got like over 80 marks for it =)
i rmb so much cause partly because i was the art rep for my class in sec 1. Mr Lim will draw all his drawings on huge recycled(very yellow) paper on the spot and place them on the board for us to "copy". i always wondered where he got those papers from as he seemed to have a never ending supply of it. anyway, after every lesson he will ask the art rep, which is me, to throw away his drawings. well..i never threw them away, not even once, i brought all of them home. haha.

the class always thinks he's funny cause he looks at us in a very weird manner. as in he will turn his whole head dramatically to glance ard the class. he didnt come to sch for sometime halfway and when he came back, he told us he went for an eye operation. and the reason he looks at us so weirdly for that (long) period of time was because he was blind in one eye. so after the operation he was fine again. no more that funny action of looking at us. when i was sec 2 he left the school. the class got him a farewell gift, which is a pen if i am not wrong. he was one of my fav teachers. he made me like art a lot in sec 1. he once mentioned in order to draw well, u first have to learn to draw a perfect circle using ur free hand. to do that, u have to practise drawing a circle clockwise and anti-clockwise everyday, like what he did when he was young.
sec 2 i had a diff art teacher. i think i failed all my art projects in that yr cause all the art pieces we hard to do is stupid and time consuming. like using clay to make some weird stuff which she claims its artistic. i thought those "artistic" stuff looked scary. all the art pieces have nothing to do with drawing at all. and i hated that teacher too. shes the one who said i sing like i am reading. how can i ever forget that.
